Try Something Else

There are many things in life that we 'don't like' that we've never actually tried. I'm like this when it comes to food. The look, the smell, even the 'idea' of eating some things is distasteful to me. If I shoot something, I want to eat it. For years in Alaska's interior I 'passed' on grizzly bears because I didn't want to eat one. I heard the meat was no good. Then a friend of mine served me a grizzly roast from a bear he'd gotten in the Spring. It was excellent- just like eating beef. Simply 'trying' something changed my perspective.

I've seen this dozens of times in others when it comes to serving in ministry. The idea of working with children or youth or leading a Bible study is distasteful, so people don't try it. But then, to meet a pressing need or because a friend begs them, they volunteer... and LOVE it! Some of you tried an area of service, but didn't like it. Try something else!

Friend, you may even think you won't like church. Maybe you even 'tried it' and didn't like it. But here's the deal- if you try a food and don't like it, you don't stop eating, you simply try different foods. Try a different church. Yes, I did get my bear, and yes, the meat was great. Be blessed! -Pastor Brad
