Refuse To Live A Mundane Life
Building the buck and pole fence was one thing, getting the trees down the mountain was quite another. The mountainside was extremely steep. Using a chainsaw and axes we would knock down, limb and gather a half dozen trees and then put the end of a lasso around the tips. Then, riding a good mountain horse, I would lunge the horse up the mountainside, grab the end of the lasso and wrap it around the saddle horn as I spun the horse on its hind legs and lunged back down the mountain, dragging the logs.
This was an adrenaline fueled process, as the mountain was too vertical for the horse to stand or turn without spinning. In this way, we drug hundreds of logs to our work site. The utter wildness of the experience left my heart bursting with joy. While many women love challenge and risk, men were literally created for it. It's in our DNA. We don't feel like we're really living our best life unless we are tackling something difficult or dangerous.
It's like the five young men who immigrated to America from bush Africa who wre asked what gets in the way of following the Lord. They responded, "Soccer and hunting lions." Oh by the way- they hunted lions with spears! Refuse to live a mundane life. In John 10:10 Jesus said, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come that you may have life, and have it to the full!" Be blessed! -Pastor Brad
