Don't Quit
My daughter and I were climbing a mountain the other day and nearly caught up with an older climber who had started long before us. In fact, I wondered if he was going to make the summit because he looked like he was struggling. I was shocked later that day to see him climbing an even higher peak farther into the mountains.
I could see that he knows the 'secret' to climbing a mountain. What is that secret? Simply this- DON'T QUIT! The secret is not in training, though training helps. It is not in outdoor experience, though that also can help. If you really want to climb a mountain, don't quit!
The Apostle Paul had a BIG mountain to climb. The Christians whom he had been arresting and persecuting were afraid of him. The Jewish religious leaders, who had been his best friends and colleagues, hated him and were hunting him down. In the midst of this, Jesus told him that he was to spend his life sharing the gospel- mostly to highly religious idol worshippers.
What was Paul's secret to climbing that mountain? He didn't quit. He said, "Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us." What 'mountains' are you facing? Debt? Loneliness? Finishing a degree? Sharing your faith with lost friends and family? DON'T QUIT!! Live this way and you WILL be blessed! -Pastor Brad
