Build Your Life
As I did the calculations in my mind, I thought I could drop those 20 trees in about an hour. This was good because that was all the time I had. I was wrong. The hillside was steep, lumpy, and had high brush and devil's club. Near the valley floor, the ground had little pockets of water that didn't even seem to have a bottom. At times I couldn't even stand up on the side of the tree where I needed to cut. Not once did I have firm footing. By the time I dropped my sixth tree, my hour was long gone. Without firm footing, I was not able to reach my goal.
This is true in all of life. Jesus Christ is not simply our sure foundation, He is the ONLY sure foundation. The powerful old hymn says, "On Christ the solid rock I stand. All other ground is sinking sand." Without Christ as our foundation, life has no more ultimate meaning for you and me than it has for the beasts in the field.
But God created us for eternity. He created us to know him intimately, to love him as our Father, to worship him and give thanks to him. When you stand upon the Solid Rock, all of life suddenly begins to make sense. It's never too late. Build your life- TODAY'S life- on HIM, and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
