Be Humble

My body hurt. I was in significant pain and could not stop shivering. My hunting partner was breathing peacefully beside me in his goose down sleeping bag. I simply suffered minute after minute as the hours slowly dragged into morning. When we ran out of propane for the heater, we closed the side windows of the topper on my pickup to try to retain heat, but we could not keep out the bitter cold.

Doug woke up refreshed. My hands and body were so cold that in spite of the embarrassment, he had to lace up and tie my hunting boots and zip up my pants. I simply couldn't get my fingers to work. The Apostle Paul referred to his body as "the tent where I live." Whether it's physical pain or some kind of disability, 'tent issues' add a layer of complexity and difficulty to life. Perhaps God allows them to PROVE to us that we need other people.

If we have a tender heart, asking for physical assistance grows us in the area of humility and brings a battering ram against our pride. And why is humility so important? Because it shapes us into the image of Christ. It brings our thinking in line with the Word of God. It changes how we respond to others around us who have needs. So? Don't be afraid or embarrassed to ask for help. Be humble, and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
