Belong To Christ

We stood motionless on the steep, snowy mountainside, senses on high alert. We were hunting elk, and a deep, musky scent told us that an animal was very close. The sun was just going down as we saw the tips of very large antlers not 30 yards beneath us. The animal was still hidden by a small knoll, but as he moved our way, we saw long tines and a wide spread. We already had our rifles up when he stepped into view, and just as I started put my finger on the trigger my partner said, "Deer! Deer! Deer! Deer! Deer!"

The antlers were so massive that in the dusky twilight he was afraid that I'd shoot. You see, we had both already filled our deer tags. We stood still and watched this massive, record-book buck with a harem of does stroll quietly past us. Sometimes we need to look more closely to discover what's true. We were hunting elk, thinking elk, and the spread and top tines were shouting elk- but it wasn't an elk.

This is true of many places that claim to represent Christ. The building certainly looks like a church. The cross is there, the name is there, perhaps even the Bible is there, but when you look more closely you find out that it's not a house where God is honored at all. Whole denominations that once pointed people to Christ now lead people away from him. Others have never belonged to Christ. They have always been a wolf in sheep's clothing. Before aligning yourself with a church, look closely.
Make certain that they belong to Christ, and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
