Walk On His Path
I'd only been to this mountain one time before. It had involved side-hilling through heavy brush right at treeline. I had to 'walk' the machine down several steep cuts and then winch it back up the other side. It was extremely slow, extremely difficult, and very dangerous. Not only that, but it didn't get me 'to' the mountain, it only got me close. Now, years later, I found myself on an old trail that I never knew existed. To my amazement, the trail made a 90° turn and headed straight to the mountain I had worked so hard to get to years before.
This so clearly mirrors my life spiritually. I was 'off the path', my life was unnecessarily difficult, and even though I didn't know it, I was headed for my own destruction. The right path didn't appeal to me because I'd never been on it. I imagined a path filled with rules that took all of the fun out of life- one that was traveled mostly by hypocrites and people I'd never be able to relate to. I was SO surprised to discover that I was SO wrong! When I began to truly follow Christ on HIS path, I discovered true meaning and purpose.
I found that it was not a path of rules and bondage, but rather a path of FREEDOM! Before Christ, I was convinced that the path I was on was the right path. Proverbs 14:12 says, "There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death." Friends, the wrong path often seems right. Don't trust your instincts, don't trust your feelings, trust the Word of God. Follow Jesus. Walk on HIS path, and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
