Receive The Gift
According to the way some people think, anything stored in a car garage must be an automobile. After all, they assume that they are Christians because they 'go to church.' If this is true, then why did Jesus call a group of religious leaders- people who NEVER missed church- a "nest of poisonous snakes?" In fact, he said to them, "You belong to your father, the devil." But notice- it is without question that they believed in God. They were absolutely committed to Bible study, and as I said, they NEVER missed church.
Friends, when you truly believe that Jesus is the Messiah, when you have genuinely received the gift of salvation by faith- the Holy Spirit takes up residence inside you. He (the Holy Spirit) changes you in good ways. He convicts you when you do things you shouldn't and when you don't do the things you should. He counsels you and comforts you and reminds you of everything you've read and heard from the Bible just when you need it. He gives you a love for others and a strong desire to see unbelievers in your neighborhood and around the world come to Christ.
LOVE and GENEROSITY (first towards God and then toward others) become your defining traits. Examine your life. Have you been made NEW? If not, surrender to Jesus right now. Ask him to forgive you and fill you. HE WILL DO IT! Do not imagine that 'religion' can save you. Receive the gift of eternal life BY FAITH, and you will become a child of God! Be blessed! Pastor Brad
