The Right Things

So yesterday I had an 'emergency' root canal. It's a little bit like self-inflicted torture. Why in the world would a person put himself through that? Not only was the procedure extremely uncomfortable, but it cost more than I paid for my truck. The answer is obvious- I did it because of the payoff on the other side. I had a painful infection that was severe enough to keep me up all night- for several nights.

Sometimes we voluntarily go through hard things because of the reward that waits at the other end. The Bible says that Jesus, "For the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame." This was the greatest sacrifice in the history of mankind, but it brought with it the greatest reward.

What was the JOY set before him? It was you and it was me. He purchased our freedom from the penalty of sin. He purchased an eternity with US. WE are his joy, and HE is ours. Friends, don't be afraid to do HARD things when the hard things are the RIGHT things! Be blessed! -Pastor Brad
