Think About Such Things

I was now over 3 hours into my '15 minute' stop to drop off tires and a Christmas tree. When the fuel truck arrived, the driver walked into my shop to see if he could figure out why the furnace wouldn't start. No luck, but he filled my fuel oil tank and I was able to start the furnace in the house. As the house was warming, I went back into the shop and finally figured out the problem. I still didn't dare leave until the house was warm and I was confident there would be no issues with the furnace, so I decided to shovel out my snowmachine trailer, which was buried in snow. 

After shoveling it off I pulled it out of the way and plowed a parking space for it and plowed the rest of the driveway. It was then that I noticed the trailer had a flat tire. At this point I was up to about 5 hours on my '15 minute' stop. After my initial thought (which was, "Really?") I just smiled and shook my head. I knew that it would take at least 2 hours for the house and shop to warm up, so I had the time.

Today had been a chain reaction, or more accurately, 'a series of unfortunate events.' But it wasn't a BAD day. After all, I was healthy and all of these little issues were not life-or-death. Having a RIGHT perspective, that is to say, GOD'S PERSPECTIVE, changes our thinking and our attitude. In Philippians 4:8 God tells us, "Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things."
