The Savior Of The World

Games were played on Friday night under the lights, so one Friday after school John decided that we should run out to a spot we knew on the Zumbro River where we might jump some wood ducks. John was an excellent shot, but I couldn't hit the side of a barn with a shotgun unless I was shooting from inside the barn. For that reason, John always let me shoot first. We did find ducks, and as I pulled the trigger the wood ducks took off like rockets 8 feet above the riverbed, zagging this way and that.
There was an immediate bang! bang! bang!- the shots so close together that it almost sounded like one. John hollered, "I got three!" But we had a problem. The current took all of the ducks to the opposite shore, and they were hung up on brush in a deep pool of water. We had no choice but to swim for them, and the green algae floating on that pool near the shore coated our game jerseys. We tried to sneak into the locker room without being noticed, but Coach Rauen saw us and screamed, "Ruds! Get in here!" John immediately said, "We shot some ducks and had to swim for them." Coach replied, "Show me the ducks." We walked to the parking lot behind the locker rooms opened the car door and showed him the ducks.
Fortunately, our coach was also an avid duck hunter. If we hadn't actually gone straight to the game with the ducks, he would have undoubtedly rained all kinds of torture down on both of us the following week at practice. EVIDENCE made the difference. This is what separates Christianity from all of the false religions in the world- EVIDENCE. Eyewitnesses not only wrote about seeing the resurrected Christ, they went to their deaths for refusing to deny it.
Friends, people won't die for something that they know is a lie. It's interesting to note that not even one archeological find has ever disproven a single name, date, place or event in all of the Bible. This allows us to say not simply that we 'believe', but that we KNOW Jesus truly is the Savior of the World. Be blessed! -Pastor Brad
