Know Christ
Watching a wolf kill a sheep was exciting, but our Dall sheep hunt was far from over. In fact, it hadn't officially started. We'd come in the day before, but this was August 9. The season didn't open until the 10th. We had spotted a small band of rams the night before, climbed a steep ridge this morning, and were trying to figure out where they went. We finally saw them several miles away running across a valley and then up the side of a mountain. We were standing right where the rams had been the night before. Our plan was to camp up on top, and so we had carried our full packs up this mountain. We had reached our goal only to discover that it was empty- our goal had moved.
So many people spend their lives pursuing one goal after another and discovering that they are still unsatisfied. The devil promises that money will fulfill you, beauty will fulfill you athleticism will fulfill you, adventure will fulfill you, success will fulfill you- and yet we wind up empty, empty, empty. Don't misunderstand me, there is nothing wrong with good things, but they will never fill the 'soul hunger' that every person carries.
The old hymn says, "On Christ alone I take my stand, all other ground is sinking sand." It's true. Only Christ can satisfy the deep longing of the human soul. Maybe it's time for a reset. Make your goal to KNOW Christ, to LOVE him, to SERVE him, to SHARE him- and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
