Majesty Of God

I broke camp and was climbing well before daylight. It was far too dark to see the Dall sheep, but I didn't need to worry about getting off the trail because my path was uphill all the way. About 5:30 AM two massive bull caribou glided right past me. Either would have been 'the bull of a lifetime' for most hunters.

By 6 AM the eastern horizon was showing signs of light. The blanket of stars above me showed that the sky was clear. Though I knew that Tim and Larry Hand were just a few short miles away, this had been my first experience of being alone in the wilderness. Even as I climbed, I felt a mixture of emotions- peace, an overwhelming sense of awe, anticipation, and, yes, a little bit of nervous anxiety. But I wasn't afraid.

I've always felt a closeness to God when I'm in the high mountains. The Bible tells us, "Jesus often withdrew to lonely places to pray." Find your lonely place to meet with God. It might be the corner booth at a coffee shop, a cushy chair in your bedroom, your car as you commute, or a neighborhood trail. Allow the majesty of God to overwhelm you, and you will be blessed! -Pastor Brad
